People who are yet to make up their minds on undergoing distance education courses fear the stigma that is still attached to the concept. Why distance education? Could you not manage to score the required cut off marks to secure admission into regular classes? These are common questions. Has the general academic field wholeheartedly embraced candidates with non-traditional doctorates? Here, the stigma attached to distance education still persists, though it is gradually decreasing with the advent of new technology.in the form of wikis, RSS, online notice boards, and viewing lectures online.
Even here, thereâ�™s some light at the end of the tunnel. With regard to teaching positions with other online programmes, candidates with doctorates from distance-learning institutions are likely to enjoy an advantage over those from traditional programmes, as they are much more likely to succeed in an online environment as a faculty member.
